Botox / Fillers
Dermal fillers such as Juvederm, Artefill and others are smooth substances used to instantly correct wrinkles around your mouth and nose, and to sculpt facial features without surgery. With just one treatment, you’ll get smooth and natural-looking results that last up to a year or longer.
Many dermal fillers use substances that are naturally absorbed by the body over time. After the original injection, subsequent injections should be considered as touch-ups. In the same way you arrange annual appointments with a dentist to assure the health of your teeth, you may wish to schedule quarterly meetings with your cosmetic nurse to maintain the youthful appearance of your face with dermal fillers.
Botox-LogoBOTOX® Cosmetic is a purified protein used to relax the muscles underneath your skin, resulting in a more relaxed, stress-free and youthful look. BOTOX® Cosmetic was approved by the FDA in 2002 for those unpleasant frown lines in between your brows, but has been used to treat various medical conditions for over 17 years. Botox can also be used to smooth crow’s feet around the eyes as well as lines across the forehead and in between your eyes. This same treatment that makes you look younger and fresh can help in many other ways. Botox can help reduce excessive sweating in the palms of your hands, underarms and bottoms of feet while also helping to reduce migraines and headaches, minimizes neck, back, and shoulder pain and muscles spasms.
Juvederm – Injectable soft tissue fillers are one of the most common cosmetic procedures for adding volume to the skin. As we age, the production of two proteins called collagen and elastin in the skin decreases. These proteins are what create fullness in the skin. Sun exposure, diet, and smoking also speed up the aging process, making the wrinkles even more prominent.
Soft tissue fillers cannot correct facial lines with the long lasting effects of surgery, but in many cases, they provide an excellent non-surgical option to improve the appearance of wrinkles. The most commonly treated wrinkles are those around the nose and mouth, known as the nasolabial lines and marionette lines. Soft tissue fillers are also an excellent option for patients wishing to have more full and youthful appearing lips. Common brand names among soft-tissue fillers are: Restylane®, Hylaform®, Juvederm®, Sculptra®. The results of injections and the length of time results will last vary by each individual and by the treatment.
Hyaluronic acid is a natural component of human skin and is the framework in which skin cells live. There are several hyaluronic acid products available that have various characteristics: Captique™, Hylaform®, Restylane®, Juvederm™, and Juvederm Ultra Plus™. These fillers can be used to fill hollow areas of the face, including the cheeks and lips. Hyaluronic acid gel does not pose an allergy risk for patients and there is no risk of transmitting animal diseases by injection. The results patients receive from hyaluronic acid products last approximately four to six months.
If you are looking to achieve a more youthful appearance, whether you choose cosmetic surgery or non surgical methods such as BOTOX® and Juvederm™, the doctors at the Carlotti Center for Cosmetic Surgery have the experience and training to provide you with excellent care.
