While the goal of any breast augmentation procedure is to provide patients with their ideal breasts, breast implants do not last forever. At some point, breast implants will need to be replaced or removed, which is most often referred to as breast implant removal, breast explant or capsulectomy.

Breast Implant Removal With Breast Lift

A breast lift may be performed at the same time as your breast implant removal if your breast skin has been stretched and is sagging. Excess breast skin is removed to tighten your breast tissue to provide better support.

Breast Implant Removal With Capsulectomy

Incisions are made at the same place where the breast implant surgery was originally performed, an En Bloc Capsulectomy is performed to remove both implant and capsule simultaneously.

Implant Deflation

If you have saline breast implants, they can be deflated without undergoing surgery. This can be done as an in-office procedure under local anesthesia. Depending on the results, you may need to undergo further surgery including a breast lift, breast implant removal or breast implant replacement surgery.
